Registration Time Ticket Information
What is a Registration Time Ticket?
The Time Ticket is the earliest day and time that a student is authorized to begin registering for classes. Students can access the registration system anytime after their time ticket begins until the posted registration deadlines relative to a course. Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible after their time ticket allows. Time tickets are not adjusted for class or work schedule conflicts.
Types of Registration Time Tickets
- Priority Registration – Time Tickets are assigned to degree seeking students who have been enrolled in the preceding fall or spring semester. Readmitted degree seeking students will be provided a priority registration time ticket 24 – 48 hours after their readmission is successfully processed by the Academic College. Priority registration runs for 13 days.
- Open Registration – Time Tickets are assigned to newly admitted students and college non-degree students. Open registration begins the day after priority registration ends for winter, spring and summer registration. Open registration starts on July 15 or next business day for fall registration.
- Invalid Time Tickets – Campus non-degree students, Carle Illinois College of Medicine students, and Visiting students are assigned time tickets that do not permit registration. These students are registered by their administrative unit.
How Priority Registration Time Tickets are assigned
Time tickets are assigned in intervals first by student level or special group designation and then by the number of hours completed including in progress University of Illinois hours.
- Special Group Identification – Students properly identified as a member of one of the following special groups according to campus policy.
- Chancellor’s Scholars, Eligible Veterans and Eligible Service Members, ROTC Students, James Scholars, Varsity Athletes, Marching Illini (Fall only), and Disability Recourses & Educational Services
- Student Level – Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, or Veterinary Medicine
- Number of hours – Total hours for time tickets are calculated by taking the number of completed hours + currently enrolled University of Illinois hours. Time tickets will be manually adjusted if a student receives additional hours added to their academic history as the result of new transfer credit or graded university credit. No adjustment is made for adding hours to the current term enrollment.
