Grades
Privacy and Posting Grades
Overview
Faculty members and teaching assistants should be reminded that posting of final examination grades using either the students' names, UIN's, or social security numbers violates both the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) and principles of privacy.
Posting Social Security numbers with grades, or other dissemination of Social Security numbers, violates the law and is prohibited by University policy.
Guidelines
Faculty members and teaching assistants must follow the Guidelines set by the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. For questions regarding the posting of grades that are not listed in the Guidelines, contact Office of the Provost, 3-6677.
